New Zealand vs. India, 2nd Test: Day 4 Video Highlights, Scorecard and Report

India took complete control of the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington, building a big first-innings lead before reducing New Zealand to 24-1 at stumps in their second innings.

New Zealand looked as if they were working their way back into the match by the time Rohit Sharma fell for a duck and left India at 165-5, while Shikhar Dhawan fell agonisingly short of a second Test century in the series with 98.

But Ajinkya Rahane (118) and MS Dhoni (68) combined to devastating effect, putting on 120 runs together in quick time to breathe life into the innings and extend the advantage.

It was Rahane's first Test century and helped cement a 246-run first-innings lead which is unlikely to be toppled.

And as if to prove the point, New Zealand lost a wicket in the nine overs they faced before stumps, Peter Fulton trapped lbw to Zaheer Khan after just nine balls.

The hosts will have to bat a long time to make a game of this Test now, with three days remaining and clear weather predicted.

The Black Caps started slowly but finally started to make some inroads with a trio of wickets midway through the morning session.

Nightwatchman Ishant Sharma was the first to fall, trapped by Trent Boult for 26. Dhawan then nicked behind to Southee with his century in sight before Sharma played on to give Jimmy Neesham his first Test wicket.

Virat Kohli helped kick-start the recovery with a patient 38 before becoming the first of Neil Wagner's three victims and then Dhoni and Rahane took over.

The run rate was notably quick well beyond four runs an over giving India plenty of time to get the Test won and level the series.

If they achieve it, it will be their first Test victory overseas since June 2011 one that's long overdue.

New Zealand vs. India Cricket 2014: Highlights, Scorecard and Report

New Zealand snatched a 40-run victory over India in the first test in Auckland on Sunday.

India were bowled out for 366 on the fourth day after starting the day on 87-1. Chasing a target 407, India had looked good for victory as Shikhar Dhawan hit 115.

Dhawan was ably assisted by Virat Kohli (67) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (39).

Dhoni's dismissal was a key and controversial point in the match. The captain was dismissed by Neil Wagner by what appeared like a no-ball.

The umpires asked for a video replay, which seemed to show that Wagner's foot had touched the side crease, but Dhoni was given out nonetheless.

India were bowled out for 366 three balls later as Ishant Sharma edged Boult through to Watling.

India had shown tremendous grit to work their way back into contention after New Zealand took a 301-run lead following the first innings.

Brendon McCullum's imperious knock of 224 saw him named man-of-the-match.

But India responded convincingly, dismissing New Zealand for 105 in their second innings. That still left India with 407 runs to chase down, which would have been the third-highest run-chase in history.

And despite briefly threatening to successfully chase down, especially when Dahwan and Kohli put on 126 runs for the third wicket, India fell short by 40 runs as Wagner dismissed the resistance.

The Times of India reported Dhoni's comments at the post-match interview:

The bowlers bowled fantastically well to get us back. One of the best that I have seen our bowlers bowl especially on a good wicket. They kept it tight and bowled wicket-taking deliveries at the same time. They need to continue doing that.

When you go and not look at what you want to achieve at the end, you can slowly graduate into bigger goals.

Wagner would prove key to the victory as he took the key wickets for 4-62.

Boult and Southee took the remaining Indian wickets, with 3-86 and 3-81 respectively.

India will travel to Wellington on Thursday for the final Test, hoping to repeat the form that saw them dominate the second half of the test.

If Dahwan, Kohli and India's bowling attack can replicate their form from the third and fourth days of the first test, they should stand a strong chance of levelling the series.

A win would be the first Test India have won away from home since June 2011.

New Zealand vs. India, 1st Test: Day 3, Video Highlights, Scorecard and Report

A crazy third day of the first Test in Auckland saw 17 wickets fall and India set 407 to beat New Zealand.
Resuming on 130-4, India were skittled out for 202 in their first innings after losing their last six wickets for 72 runs in the morning session.
That saw the tourists relinquish a 301-run lead on first innings but Brendon McCullum decided not to enforce the follow-on and then saw his side bundled out for 105 in under 42 overs.
India finished the day on 87-1 and need 320 more runs to take a famous victory via the third highest fourth innings run chase in the history of Test cricket.

If India manage to win tomorrow it will be their highest ever run chase in Test cricket (had made 406/4 v WI at POS in April 1976)

New Zealand vs. India, 1st Test: Day 1 Video Highlights, Scorecard and Report

New Zealand made a superb start to the first Test against India at Eden Park, Auckland, with a Brendon McCullum century, leading them to 329 for four wickets at the close of Day 1.

The captain, who had not quite delivered with the bat in the team's 4-0 demolition of their hosts in the One Day International series, finished unbeaten on 143 at stumps as New Zealand made light of having been put in to bat first under overcast skies.

Melbourne Stars vs. Hobart Hurricanes, BBL Semi: Highlights, Scorecard, Report

The Hobart Hurricanes stunned the Melbourne Stars on home soil to reach the final of the Big Bash League with a seven-wicket win.

It was a huge upset—the Stars were overwhelming favourites having come into the match on the back of eight wins from eight in the group stages, while Hobart had managed just three victories.

But despite losing the toss, the Hurricanes began superbly to restrict Melbourne with the ball to a modest total of 141 for eight from their 20 overs, a total which would have been still lower but for a rescue act from Brad Hodge.

And in response they batted aggressively, with Tim Paine and George Bailey helping them safely to the total.

They await the winners of Sydney Sixers vs. Perth Scorchers in the second semi-final on Wednesday.
