Super Bowl 2014: Key Takeaways from Seahawks' Blowout of Broncos

With Super Bowl XLVIII in the books, football fanatics will have to search for some sense of meaning in their lives until September, but for now we can feast on the shocking annihilation the Seattle Seahawks put upon the Denver Broncos in the 43-8 romp.

Fantasy Knuckleheads :: Super Bowl Aftermath: The Good, The Bad and Manning

If it was another quarterback, I wouldn’t be so harsh. But this is Peyton Manning. The 2014 MVP. The guy who defied the odds from neck surgery and won his way back into our hearts. His season shouldn’t have ended like that. But even Superman has his kryptonite. To Seattle, Manning was just another quarterback in the way of their goal. Peyton has had bad games in the past, but this one is the worst one I’ve ever seen in person. It just wasn’t his night. And it clearly wasn’t a night meant for one more Super Bowl win. To possibly ride off into the sunset like John Elway. For Manning, it’s back to the drawing board, see how Denver can improve and hopefully we’ll see one more magic rabbit pulled out of Manning’s hat in 2015.

Super Bowl 2014: Seahawks Reign Atop NFL Is Just Beginning

After years of suffering, the city of Seattle has its first major professional sports championship since 1979, when the SuperSonics won the NBA title. It was one that was not only well-deserved but built through a very specific formula that worked beautifully.

Talks of a dynasty are still years away for the Seattle Seahawks, but the system Pete Carroll has put together is one that will lead to several more successful years.

Following a smackdown of the Denver Broncos, Peyton Manning and the No. 1 offense in the NFL, Seattle looked like the more dominant team during all four quarters. Not only was the defense superb, but the offense was masterful behind second-year quarterback Russell Wilson, as ESPN Stats and Info notes:

Russell Wilson posted a 88.1 Total QBR, the 2nd-highest in the Super Bowl since 2006 (Joe Flacco, 93.4).

Super Bowl Commercials 2014: Tim Tebow Steals Show with 'No Contract' Ads

Even in the midst of a memorable Super Bowl XLVIII, as the Seattle Seahawks blew out the Denver Broncos 43-8 on Sunday, Feb. 2, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., Tim Tebow managed to make headlines.

The playoff-winning quarterback may not be on an NFL roster, but he made light of that fact in self-deprecating "No Contract" advertisements for mobile communications company T-Mobile.

These commercials were designed to promote the liberty their cellular plans offer, which tell customers the company will buy out their old contracts to make the switch. Tebow was the perfect pitch man for that concept.

It's hilarious that the closing lines to the two 30-second spots are, respectively, "contracts are limited" and "contracts hold you back."

What is limiting Tebow from getting another chance as a QB in the NFL—what is holding him back—is his inability to consistently throw the football. Yours truly is a massive Tebow fan and misses the "Tebow Time" craze, but none of the 32 franchises believe he has what it takes to thrive under center, er, in the shotgun.

But it was of no matter on Sunday, because the 26-year-old is indeed making the most of his immense star power and powerful personal brand.

As former NFL player Dustin Fox pointed out, at least Tebow wasn't being held back by the vaunted Seahawks defense:

Who would have thought Tebow would be having a better Super Bowl Sunday than Manning?

Peyton Manning's Legacy a Lazy Storyline Following a Super Bowl Blowout

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and his legacy were such a big storyline in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl that it's almost impossible we won't be talking about this all offseason.

Please, no.

"I've been getting asked about my legacy since I was 25. I'm not sure you can have a legacy at 25." - Peyton Manning #LIVEonSC right now.

Super Bowl 2014 Highlights: Analyzing Plays That Decided Outcome

Well, that was a football game, I guess.
Super Bowl XLVIII left a lot to be desired in terms of drama, but it more than made up for that by virtue of the Seattle Seahawks' dominance. You have to appreciate the way they dissected the Denver Broncos and silenced what had been a historic offense all season long.
Not only did the Seahawks win 43-8, but they were also on top for all but 12 seconds of the game, per CBSSports.com's Will Brinson:

Seahawks set the Super Bowl record for most playing time with the lead: 59 minutes, 48 seconds
